The SymplySPARK is a new Thunderbolt3 8 Bay RAID solution that utilises Seagate Enterprise Class HDDs and is available in capacities of 48TB, 80TB, 112TB & 144TB. The SPARK offers incredible speeds up to 1,711MB/s (read) and 1,625MB/s (write) in default RAID 5 but is also configurable in 0, 1, 6, 10 or JBOD, meaning it’s perfect for large scale 4K and 8K workflows. The SPARK is also more compact and lighter than it’s competitors (despite it’s unique all metal construction) at just 150(w) x 240(d) x 318(h) mm and 10.8KG with the HDDs inserted, as well as coming with a built in carry handle and an impact resistant wheeled transport case.

To get the maximum combination of safety and speed out of your 8 Bay RAID, we at MediaDrives.ie recommend setting your unit to ‘RAID 5’, which means you lose 25% of your storage capacity (so a 48TB becomes an 36TB) but in the unlikely event one or even two of the internal enterprise class HDDs failing at some stage over the years, your data is still fully protected and can be rebuilt from the remaining internal drives.
